Sometimes being a parent for the first time can be a daunting experience. What we like to do at Hugz Babystore is make the experience more enjoyable and interesting by answering some of those daunting questions for you. Either instore or online we are always here to answer your questions. We have decided to try and answer some of the most basic questions below. Whats an ISOfix system?

ISO stands for International Standards Organisation. The ISO thought of a very clever standard for all new cars to enable car seats to be fixed to this system in order to improve safety for children travelling in cars. You need an ISOfix car seat to fix to the ISOfix connections.

Are ISOfix car seats safer than belt in car seats?

No, ISOfix is a very good idea to make sure the car seats are always fixed in correctly. Standard seat belt in car seats can be just as safe as ISOfix seats when belted in correctly. Ensure that all manufacturers recommendations are adhered to when installing car seats.

Whats the difference between a cot and a cot bed?

There are quite a few differences but here are the main ones. A cot bed is bigger than a cot and can be used used for a longer period of time. Some cot beds can be transformed into a junior bed allowing it to be used for further years. Cots are generally smaller but can come with a drop side for easy access.

Whats this BPA Free thing I keep reading on packaging for bottles?

BPA is Bisphenol A, a compound found in some plastics. This compound can be harmful to humans with prolonged exposure. Some companies have eliminated BPA from there products and have even put a tint on the plastic in order to show which products have no BPA.

Whats the difference between a Crib and a moses basket?

A crib would be more suitable for a babies nursery room. A Moses basket is more portable as its lighter and it has handles. Both are suitable from birth but its really a matter of what you feel would be more appropriate for your baby.

Whats a Jogger and why would I buy that over a stroller

A jogger would be for parents who regularly go on long walks with baby. They generally have 3 wheels, very good suspension and have larger, air wheels. They are ideal for walking in rougher terrain.
